50 THINGS - Starting point
I wanted to start by getting as many thoughts as I could out of my head and onto paper. I find that this is a good way for me to start projects as, once I have ‘emptied’ my head of ideas that I am desperate not to forget I can start filtering through the nonsense and start making some sense of what I need to do and start to make a plan.
The main things I took away from this was:
Information design.
What I currently understand about it and what areas I need to explore and develop. The main thing I need to keep in mind is that this is an information design project. I need to make sure that I outline from the every beginning what this means.50 things about me.
What are these going to be? They need to be something that at some point I can catalogue and organise. The main challenge is going to be not to overthink this stage.Research.
I need to make reference to artists and designers that I already know in the field of information design but also look outside of these to find new sources of information. Starting with the reading list provided but also looking in places less obvious.Ideas.
I am at risk of getting ahead of myself but I can’t help but think about final format and what this might look like in the end. I really enjoy archiving and cataloguing and I know how many visual forms this can take. The picture I have on my living room wall is, what I think is, a really great example of early infographics. Taking a large amount of data and presenting it a way that not only helps to make sense of the information but is visually appealing too. A very early I idea but I like the look of lots of images of various sizes organised neatly and categorised.
