MANIFESTO - Inspiration

Wim Crouwel

Wim Crouwel is one of my favourite designers, he creates bold, precise and clear iconic graphics. He sticks rigidly to grid systems and typographic scales yet creates visually engaging and beautiful designs. Proof that systems and order can be used to enhance the creative outcome of a design rather than damage it.

“Influenced by Swiss typography, particularly the Basel School, he earned the nickname “Gridnik” among his colleagues for his “frenetically” gridded work, particularly for the Stedelijk Museum”
